Who operates this website
This website is operated by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd on behalf of Local Makers Market. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator and the Local Makers Market service offering, unless the context shows otherwise. Our details may change from time to time and the latest contact information will always appear on the site or in our booking correspondence.
These terms apply to visitors, market attendees, stall applicants, workshop participants and anyone using the site to enquire, book, register interest or communicate with us. If you do not agree with these terms, you should stop using the site and related services.
Using the site and making enquiries
You may use the site for lawful, personal or business purposes connected to attending markets, applying for a stall, booking a workshop, or receiving event information. You must not use the site in a way that damages it, interferes with its operation, or attempts unauthorised access to our systems, forms or message accounts.
- Submit accurate and current contact details.
- Do not upload harmful code, spam or misleading content.
- Do not copy site content for resale or commercial reuse without written permission.
- Do not use another person’s identity, payment details or booking information.
We may suspend access if we reasonably believe the site is being misused or if your conduct creates a risk to our team, traders, customers or event partners.
Bookings, applications and event conditions
All stall applications, maker night registrations and workshop bookings are subject to availability and confirmation by our team. A booking is only confirmed once we have accepted it in writing and any required payment or supporting documents have been received. We may refuse or cancel an application if the event is full, the product range is unsuitable, safety requirements are not met, or participation would not be in line with the event format.
Event-specific rules may apply at Hatfield, Brooklyn, Lynnwood, Menlyn, Centurion and nationwide pop-up venues. These may include trading times, vehicle access, set-up windows, waste disposal, electricity use, food safety steps, municipal requirements and noise limits.
- Arrive on time and trade only in the allocated space.
- Keep your stall tidy and remove all stock, packaging and refuse afterwards.
- Follow venue rules, fire safety instructions and all lawful directions from event staff.
- Any hire items, equipment or access tokens must be returned in good order unless fair wear and tear applies.
Payments, refunds and cancellations
Fees for stalls, workshops, photography sessions or related services will be communicated before confirmation. Unless stated otherwise, prices are in South African Rand and may include or exclude VAT as indicated on the invoice. You remain responsible for paying any bank charges, card charges or transfer costs applied by your payment provider.
If you cancel, refund terms will depend on the event, the notice period, and whether costs have already been incurred for venue hire, printing, staffing or materials. We may deduct non-recoverable expenses from any refund. Where we cancel an event due to low attendance, venue issues, safety concerns or circumstances beyond our control, our liability is limited to the remedy stated in our written cancellation notice.
Content, photos and intellectual property
All site text, images, event listings, logos, graphics, workshop materials and layout elements are protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights. You may view and print pages for your own reference, but you may not reproduce, edit, distribute or commercially use our content without prior written consent.
Where photographs or video are taken at markets or workshops, you consent to reasonable use of your image, stall, products or likeness for event records, reporting and promotional material, unless you tell us in writing that you object before the event. This does not give you permission to use other traders’ images or product shots without their approval.
- Maker-submitted product descriptions remain the maker’s responsibility.
- We may edit event listings for length, clarity or formatting.
- We do not guarantee that all content will be error free or always current.
Liability, safety and legal limits
We take reasonable care in organising markets and workshops, but attendance and participation are at your own risk. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from theft, weather, transport delays, acts of third parties, incorrect information supplied by users, or the failure of a maker or visitor to follow event rules. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
You are responsible for your own stock, personal belongings, equipment and public safety compliance. Food traders must follow all applicable health and hygiene rules, and all exhibitors should ensure their displays are secure in wind, rain or crowded conditions. If an incident occurs, you must report it promptly to the relevant event coordinator or market operations manager.
Privacy, updates and contact details
We collect and use personal information only as needed to process enquiries, manage bookings, communicate about events, and meet legal or operational requirements. Our handling of personal information is subject to our privacy practices and applicable South African law. By using the site, you agree that we may contact you through our contact form or phone about bookings, venue changes, reminders and event-related updates.
We may amend these terms from time to time. The updated version will apply once published on the site, so please review it before submitting a new booking or enquiry. For questions about these terms, use our contact form.
